Digitec found this DIY project (only for geeks).  It is an arduous task and necessitates engineering skills. Build your own Gmail Notifier cube that lights up everytime you got mail! .

The basic system has three components:

  • the software that runs on your computer,
  • the electronics hardware that sits between the computer and the output device,
  • and the software that runs on that hardware.

More after the break.

We’ve already seen a few of iKey’s own wearable , nearly indestructible keyboards, but it looks like the company isn’t above sharing its creations with others, and it’s now announced that its working with SpecOps Systems on a new keypad-equipped version of the company’s WC2 wearable computer. While there’s no details on any updates to the computer side of the system, the keypad used is iKey’s KYB-170-OEM model which, as you can see, is simply a number pad (with an added Force Sensing Resistor pointing device) — meaning that any text entry will have to be done cellphone-style.

DigInfo has come up with a revolutionary printer. Its different from other printer not only it uses less electricity but it doesn’t require ink cartridges at all. Besides, each of the sheets can be re-used at least 1000 times. Indeed it is a greener way to curb carbon footprints. In the long run we can actually save money by buying this rewritable printer rather than a conventional printer.
