Israel has banned imports of iPad because of its wireless interference with other devices. Officers at the customs have even impounded some of the gadgets. Even tourists won’t be allowed to bring iPads into Israel until officials certify that they comply with local transmitter standards. Stronger Wi-fi signals from iPad can affect other wireless devices that broadcast at lower power levels.

Google launched a new feature in Gmail on March 24 that will alert users when the system detects suspicious activity that might indicate the account has been compromised.
Gmail already displays information at the bottom of the in-box showing the time of the last activity on the account and whether it’s still open in another location. But people often don’t think to check that information, Will Cathcart, a Gmail product manager, said in an interview on Wednesday.
TechCrunch has reported that Facebook has enabled users to generate QR codes. It is on the left-hand side under the profile pictures, and enable users to view status messages or profiles from a cell phone. This means Businesses could benefit more as users can check their Facebook profiles and decrypt the information which serves as ads embedded in the the form of QR codes with their smartphones.
Lifehacker’s Gina Trapani, in her blog writes, “QR code generator can embed a URL, text, a phone number, or an addressed and ready-to-send SMS message into a QR code. Two things to keep in mind when you’re generating a QR code: the more data you stuff into your code, the smaller its pixels will be, and the more sensitive the scanners will have to be to read it accurately. Second, if you’re encoding a URL, make sure it’s a site that will load well on a mobile phone browser. Here’s more on best practices for using QR codes in your business.”

The BFI National Archive has restored the first film adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice In Wonderland.
The film, made in 1903, a mere 37 years after the novel was first published, was badly damaged. The BFI painstakingly restored what was left of the film, with only 8 of the original 12 minutes remaining. Directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow, the first Alice In Wonderland was artistically based on the original illustrations of Sir John Tenniel. Considering this film was made only 8 years after the dawning of modern film, this is a major achievement.
The much anticipated Tim Burton film version of Alice In Wonderland, featuring Johnny Depp, opens today in theaters around the country.
